Santos:

Pele at the age of 15, in 1956, went to Santos accompanied with de Brito. Santos was an industrial and port city in the state of Sao Paulo. De Brito commended about Pele that the 15-years old would be “the greatest football player in the world”

During his time at Santos, Pelé played with many talented players like Zito, Pepe, and Coutinho. Pelé took his entrance for Santos in September 7, 1956, securing one goal in a 7–1 gracious conquest over Corinthians. In 1957 season, Pelé was given an opening place in the first team and became the top scorer in the group at the age of 16. 10 months later, he was offered to join to the Brazil National Team as the younger player.

Pelé scored his 1000th goal on November 19,1969 in all competitions which was a highly predictable moment in Brazil. Pelé affirmed that his most beautiful goal was achieved at Rua Javari stadium on a Campeonato Paulista game in opposition to Sao Paulo rival Juventus August 2, 1959. Pele scored a goal against Fluminense at the Maracana, which was deemed as the most beautiful goal in the history of the Maracana.

New York Cosmos

After being retired from Brazilian club football after the 1972 season, his 17th with Santos, he continued to intermittently suit up for Santos in official competitive matches. In 1974, he reached to semi-retirement to sign with the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League (NASL) for the 1975 season. In those days, Pele was credited with radically increasing public consciousness and curiosity in soccer in the United States. NASL championship 1977 was his third and final season with the Cosmos club.

Pelé closed out his distinguished career in a presentation match between the Cosmos and Santos on October 1, 1977.
