Pelé got married with Rosemeri dos Reis Cholby on February 21, 1966. He has a son Edson born in 1970 and two daughters Kelly Cristina (1967) and Jennifer (1978). They were separated from their conjugal life 1978.

In 2005, his eldest son Edinho was seized for drug control.

Pele had been married in 1994 to psychologist and gospel singer Assiria Lemos Sexas who gave birth to twins Joshua and Celeste on September 28, 1996.
