Goal scoring and exterior record

In 1363 games, Pelé's goal scoring record was reported as 1280 goals, which included goals, scored by Pelé in non-competitive club matches. Pelé concluded with Santos and the New York Cosmos, and played games for armed forces teams at the time of his national service in Brazil.

There was no national league championship at the time of career of Pele in Brazil. Since 1960 onwards the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) were required to provide meritocratic participants for new Copa Libertarians, a South American international club competition mostly comparable to the European Cup. Enabling them to perform this, the CBF planned two national competitions: the Taca de Prata and Taca Brasil.
